High power density 180W/220W peak 3x2” AC-DC Medical and ITE Power in Many Machinal Formats

The TAD180 and MAD180 series of compact, high efficiency power supplies, can provide continuous power of up to 180W fan cooled/150W convection with a peak of 220W (5sec max). The peak capability of the unit lends itself to robotics (motor driving), printers, heaters or 5G communication applications. Offering a peak capability in a smaller package can save not only space but money by not over specifying to the full constant power requirement.

The family comes in 3 mechanical forms to suit your installation requirements; Open frame: 3 x 2 x 1.24” Covered: 3.6 x 2.44 x 1.75” DIN rail 3.6 x 2.44 x 2.09”. All form factors carry medical (MAD180) and ITE (TAD180) approvals with the latest relevant standards for safety; EN/IEC/ES 60601-1, EN/IEC/UL 62368-1 and for EMC; EN55011, EN60601-1-2 or EN55032 respectively. The MAD180 medical units are all suitable for Body Floating (BF) applied medical part designs offering 2x MOPP from the mains and 1500VAC isolation from output to ground with low earth leakage.

The units boast efficiencies up to 94% with excellent harmonic performance not only to class A but also the more stringent class D. They offer true universal power for global flexibility with no derating at low line with forced convection. Full power operation from -40 to 50°C (55°C at high line) and extended operation to 85°C. There are 8 output models from 12 to 53V, all complete with 8% voltage adjust, over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit protections. Both the variants offer the flexibility to be used in either class I (with earth) or class II (no earth, double insulated) installations.

The units offer supreme extended thermal performance both at the lowest –40°C (with no derating) and the highest operational temperature of 85°C. With natural convection only derating commences at 50°C at the earliest, and with forced convection only begin derating from 70°C. At maximum operating temperature of 85°C, low line (115VAC), natural convection the units still deliver 50W and with forced convection still deliver 90W.
